The ultimate goal in EA SPORTS™ MVP Baseball 07 is to score more runs than the other team. You can also strive to improve your statistics such as your batting average, slugging percentage, ERA, etc. There are three modes of game play: Quick Play, Exhibition, and Playoffs.
Quick Play:
The fastest way to start playing is Quick Play, where you play another team in at least three innings until a team scores more runs than the other.
Exhibition:
In Exhibition mode, you play a regulation, nine-inning game. Before the game starts you can manage your lineup, select your pitcher, or select your location as home or away. Statistics are tracked for completed games. You may exit the game at any time and resume your last half-inning.
Playoffs:
Playoff mode takes you into a tournament to determine the winner of the world series. In this mode, each team is played against in a series, either best of 3 or 5 games.

Strategy
Player Ratings:
All players have four ratings: Batting, Power, Speed, and Defense. Pitchers have two different ratings for pitching: Pitching and Power. These ratings are only viewable during pre-game team management, when pinch-hitting, or when selecting a new pitcher. When a fast runner (rating is greater than 7) is up to bat, there is a red runner icon next to their name during play.
Defense:
When pitching, try to throw off the batter with different pitches in different areas. When fielding, use the arrow keys to move your fielders to the yellow targets and make faster plays. Always be ready to quickly throw the ball to a base to make defensive plays.
Offense:
When batting, hit line drives to get runners on, use bunts to advance runners, and use the power option to try for home runs. Steal bases by pressing 2/4/8 immediately after the pitcher releases the ball, and press 0 to return to base.
